Kem School 2025
graphic design by Marcjanna
Kem School embarks on its 5th iteration!
To mark this occasion, we want to expand our usual framework by experimenting with new forms of collaboration and participation. We're re-imagining the usual format of Kem School to make it more accessible to a broader audience. Instead of engaging with one, closed group of participants selected through an open call, we invite everyone to take part in 4 open blocks of workshops and other formats of exchange. These will take place between June and October in Warsaw and in August in Poznań.
Each block is an invitation to learn together - through bodily practices, experimentation and a non-hierarchical exchange of knowledge and experiences. Choreographic, performative and somatic workshops held by individuals and collectives in both local and translocal contexts will be interwoven with lectures and discussions around queer-feminist strategies of world-building. Through this, we will touch upon the subjects we consider most urgent after 5 years of hosting Kem School: collective reclamations of public space, antifascist artistic practices and establishing strong queer communities.
This year’s edition of Kem School will include group actions in Warsaw’s public spaces, a mini-discussion club called “POV”, lectures, movement workshops and performances.
We wish to continue our practice of learning together, against hierarchy — drawing on strategies rooted in queer-feminist tensions and experiences, to actively engage with entangled political realities and build collective resilience. Kem School remains a space of rehearsal and experimentation — one that opens up towards new questions in a collective search for possible answers.
Amongst the individuals and collectives invited to share their practices in Kem School 2025 are: SQUIR, Anka Herbut, softchaos, Liina Magnea, DRAGANA BAR, Ania Nowak, Kasia Właszczyk, Eve Stainton, Ewa Majewska, Liz Rosenfeld, Tosia Leniarska and others.
BLOCK I: 5-7 June
Satellite Block in Poznań: August (exact date tbc)
BLOCK II: 2-5 September
BLOCK III: 13-18 October
Registration for each workshop will take place separately, around a month before they happen.
We will announce the detailed programme and schedule gradually — we encourage you to follow our social media channels closely, where we will be posting all updates, alongside information about accessibility.
Kem School is co-financed by the City of Warsaw
